See y’all there!Happy Star Wars Day! #maythe4thbewithyou #vadergang #darksideQUICK HISTORY LESSON: Although "Nia Griggs & The Kemetic Sisterhood of Science #1" — the latest comic book from our @20thplacemedia imprint — dropped a couple of weeks ago, did you know that the main character was actually introduced almost 30 YEARS AGO? In 1994, we released "Isis: Queen Mother Sister Warrior Goddess #0" to comic book shops across the country, with Nia in the lead role as her alter ego "Isis." Our mission was to create a dynamic, well-rounded and aspirational Black woman superhero. (There were even less back in the 1990s.) But due to some financial issues, the next issue — "Isis #1" — never made it to stores. Over the next few decades, however, we steadily tweaked and improved the character. Today, we're happy to finally have "Nia Griggs #1" out in the universe; its publication marks the fulfillment of a nearly 30-year journey. (Even the artist for that original comic, @jcbaezart, drew a story in the newest comic ... making it a real full-circle moment!)
